Presenting The Tīwhas! An explosive introduction to Dame Jthan (Ngāi Tāmanuhiri, Rongowhakaata, Magiagi, Sapapāli’i, Lotofaga), Slay West (Tainui), Pānia (Ngāti Tūwharetoa) and Tina Coco Couture (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hikairo), the takatāpui pop girl group The Tīwhas.
Blending waiata Māori, pop bangers, musical theatre, kapa haka and more, The Tīwhas bring their unique style of performance to Ōtautahi for their Te Waipounamu debut. With live vocals, dynamic choreography and endless costume changes, The Tīwhas and their live band Ngāti Tīwha (Kree Matthews, Tom Knowles, Hayden Taylor) are set to entertain you and your whānau as part of the World Buskers Festival.
Nominees for Outstanding Costume Design (WTA 2024), and winners of the 2024 Wellington Theatre Award for Most Original Production and the 2022 Fringe Festival Award for Most Promising Emerging Company, The Tīwhas are led by Dame Jthan, winner of The Campion Accolade for Outstanding Performance (WTA 2022).
