No.3 Roskill Theatre was created out of a collaboration in 2021 between Pacific Underground’s Tanya Muagututi’a and Pos Mavaega, and JLP Presents’ – John Leach and Bevan Peace. They transformed a demolition-bound state house in Mt Roskill into an outdoor theatre space, while forming a collective of emerging actors who would make an artistic response to the area’s redevelopment of state housing. Their debut devised show “Love To Say Goodbye” premiered at the 2021 Auckland Arts Festival, amidst construction of new apartment blocks. The company formalised as No.3 Roskill Theatre, focussing on provide a pathway for young people’s creative expression through theatre. Being housed at JLP’s venues on Dominion Rd, No.3 Roskill Theatre have devised regular revues, an annual outdoor theatre show called Welcome Home, and hosted their own events during Auckland’s Pride Festival.
This is No.3 Roskill Theatre’s first appearance outside of Auckland.

“…you cannot help but feel the emotions these creatives portray as we sit in the backyard of a once-was-a-family home, and at the base of, with our backs to Pukewīwī / Puketāpapa, a consistent reference and reminder throughout the performance – we are watching gentrification take place in real time…”
